Another Year, Another Resolution: Exercise
“This year I have to start EXERCISING”
Let’s look at the real benefit of exercise. Did you know that the circulatory system was designed to last over 100 years? Exercise can cause a noticeable increase in your heart rate. Just 20 minutes of aerobic exercise makes your heart beat faster. It improves your chances of living longer and healthier by helping the body systems function better. Better circulation allows organs and tissues to get vital nourishment they need to function optimally. Now that is a good reason to exercise. It relieves symptoms of depression and anxiety and improves your mood. Exercise prevents weight gain and helps keep it off. Trouble sleeping? Well exercise even improves your sleep.
My personal experience:
Don’t wait until you are in your forties to start exercising and eating right like I did. I used to think exercise was punishment so I did not take it seriously. I thought because I never really had a weight problem I was excused. I wish I had started earlier. But it is never too late. When I started out I had a personal trainer. This did not work for me because there was to much chit chat and it was too expensive. I tried the gym membership and I would never go. I realized that I needed to be held accountable. Boot camp has been my saving grace for the past 3 years. I discovered that I like being outside. Of course, if you have Good Sarge like I do, it makes all the difference in the world. We do go inside in the winter. I mostly enjoy the bond you start to form with the other ladies and everyday a different part of the body is worked out. I actually feel guilty when I don’t go. Wednesday is our run day. I never dreamed of running a 5K but I have. Pushing and praising one another also really helps. Hearing I did a great job keeps me coming back. I hope BOOT CAMP can work for you! No exercise is a recipe for disaster. Start out walking more, just move your body. YOU CAN DO IT!
